Be sure to read “The Dynamo and the Virgin,” en excerpt from The Education of Henry Adams. Annotate while you read; you’ll want to supply the class with three, quality annotations! (Remember: if somebody has already annotated the piece of text that you’re interested in, don’t re-highlight, instead use the “reply” button in the existing annotation to add commentary.)
Here are a couple of things to keep in mind – – perhaps – – as you annotate the Adams excerpt. The title of Adams’ autobiography is The Education of Henry Adams. Where in the excerpt does Adams mention or talk about education and learning? And, can you find places in the text where Adams, the author, seems particularly distant or separate from Adams, the character? These are just a couple of things to keep in mind – – but they shouldn’t restrict or determine your annotations.
