For our final class project, we'll put together a catalog of important and valuable things to possess in the post-apocalyptic world - - a kind of LL Bean for preppers.
There is really one basic rule for inclusion in our catalog: the object or thing must be consistent with the story-worlds of the narratives we've looked at this semester (The Strange Bird, Last Policeman, Water Knife, your movie reviews etc.). The object must obey the "rules" of these worlds. But, it must also be desirable, necessary, and/or valuable in these worlds. Think of the object this way: if I were suddenly transported into the pages of The Purge of Babylon (or whatever story you've read/looked at), what's something that would make it a lot easier for me to survive and even flourish?
You will produce two of these prepper objects.
Your catalog page for each object should include at a minimum:
- image(s) of the object
- a description of the object (no more than 500 words)
- endorsements for the object from appropriate fictional characters
- a price - - in dollars and some appropriate post-apocalyptic currency (i.e. food, ammo, water, etc.)
You'll create your two pages/two objects in a Google doc. This will allow you to include images, text, etc. Once you're done with your Google doc version, proofread it! Then, share both pages with me and grant me "edit" privileges - - that way I can transfer your catalog page to an online site.
This should be a fun project. Indulge in a little humor, enjoy some creativity, make the page enjoyable for a reader who stumbles across the catalog in their journeys through the inter-webs.
Due: December 12, midnight.
