For Thursday, let's talk about our last version of I Am Legend (2007).  To access the movie, click the link to the right - - the password is: Legend .

And, don't forget: your club's complete final draft of your movie review should be posted to your group forum.   If you feel the final draft looks good, you can copy and paste the review into the "post" box assigned to your group.  To do this: make sure you're logged into the site, copy your review draft, and click on the "Dashboard" button at the top of the window; next, click on the "Posts"/"All posts" button on the left column; locate your movie club and click on the "Edit" button, just below the title of your club/movie (you may need to hover over the title with your cursor for the edit menu to appear); paste your review into the text box and adjust the title; insert any media you want - - simply copy YouTube links to the text box or add images by clicking on the "Add Media" button above the text box (you will be asked to upload images); click on the "Save" button at the top of the right column.

We're back on schedule with The Omega Man (1971).  Click here to watch the movie- - you'll need to enter the password to watch it.  The password is: Omega.  As you watch the inimitable Charlton Heston, try to keep track of the the differences you see between this version of Matheson's I Am Legend and it's earlier 1964 film version - - Last Man on Earth.

You should have organized your movie club by now, and members should be drafting their parts of the review on your club forum.  Keep my movie review rubric in mind as you draft.

Watch The Omega Man (1971).  Click here - - you'll need to enter the password to watch the movie.  The password is: Omega.  As you watch the inimitable Charlton Heston, note the differences you see between this version of Matheson's I Am Legend and it's earlier 1964 film version - - Last Man on Earth.

You'll spend some time working on/talking about your movie review in class.  Check out the movie review rubric that I've posted.  By Thursday, you'll want to have some notes and/or organizational guides posted to your club forum.

For Tuesday, watch the 1964 version of Matheson's I Am Legend.  What significant differences do you note between text and movie?  What striking similarities?

Movie Clubs: We organized ourselves into movie clubs last Thursday and picked movies - - see below.  (If you missed class, see me on Tuesday so that I can assign you to a movie club.)  Everybody in your club should have watched the movie by Thursday (9/12).  Our movie club site is here.  You should receive an invite to the site by Monday.  When you receive the invite, register by entering a user name and password.  That's it for now - - we'll start reviewing how to work collectively on your movie review on Tuesday.

Let's finish reading Richard Matheson's I Am Legend.  I.e. read Parts III and IV, up to the end of Chapter 21.  (Links to read/download the text can be found here.)

If you want to get a bit of a head start, you can watch the first of three film versions of Matheson's text - - The Last Man on Earth - -that we'll be viewing and discussing.  We'll talk about this first (1964) version next Tuesday, September 10.

Take a look at these four small, possible examples of an "apocalypse."  As you read/view them, think about what might make each an example of "apocalypse."  Based on what you read/view, can you come up with a concise list of the defining features of an "apocalypse"?

PS If you want to get a head start on next Tuesday's assignment, feel free to start reading Richard Matheson's I Am Legend
