For Thursday (January 26), you’ll want to read to this stanza in “Song of Myself” (about 14 pages into the Reynolds-edited version of Leaves of Grass):
“I chant a new chant of dilation or pride,
We have had ducking and deprecating about enough,
I show that size is only developement.”
Try to keep track of your favorite lines or stanzas.
You might also find it interesting to compare the picture of Whitman on the 1855 frontispiece (above) with other pictures of Whitman as poet.
And, if you don’t yet have a gmail account – – now’s a good time to create one. After – – or if you already have one – – don’t forget to head to blogger.com to create a blog. The instructions are pretty self-evident, but if you have questions or encounter glitches let me know!
